We have had a wonderful summer at SOS Children’s Villages Illinois. Children at SOS Illinois have had a memorable summer with events like picnics and pool parties, workshops about social media safety, lending their artistic talents to one of our sites, and attending summer camp. Our summer camp attendants experienced a range of camp activities and adventures. Thanks to Jefferson Sportsman Society, Camp Manito-wish, Swissôtel Chicago, and Camp Greenheart for opening the eyes and minds of eleven of our youth to new discoveries.
The generosity and enthusiasm we have seen from our corporate partners and community continues to inspire and motivate us.
Motivation is important as we look toward a new academic year. It is absolutely vital that our youth feel prepared and ready for the upcoming school year. As many of you know, like countless other organizations and families around the country, we are hard at work to do our utmost to send our children back to school with that they need. Our 2nd Annual Back-to-School Supply Drive helps us meet our goals and ease the burden on our Foster Parents. It is not too late to help. Shop our Amazon Wish List and send donations directly to us by August 31, 2016, and you’ll be making a difference in the preparedness of our young students.
Whether or not your family or household is heading back to school, it is a shift to a new phase of the year for us all. At SOS Illinois two important fall events, the Related Midwest & Lend Lease Annual Charity Golf Classic on September 15, 2016, and our annual Evening of Hope on October 20, 2016, are signs of transition to the fall season. As we look forward to these events, let us all look forward to what the new season will bring: continued opportunities to learn, do our best work, and grow.
