The Boys of Casa Tepeyac Give Back

September 1, 2015

There’s no obstacle our boys can’t face

Casa Tepeyac serves as a short-term residence for young men in Chicago’s Back of the Yards neighborhood. The young men of SOS Children’s Villages Illinois at Casa Tepeyac gave back to their community this summer by volunteering for an obstacle course race for charity.

They were asked to volunteer for a local obstacle course challenge, which benefits an autism research and awareness organization. They did such a great job volunteering at last year’s event, the young men were asked to help again this year and were given extra responsibilities. The obstacle course staff praised the young men, who were in charge of overseeing various parts of the race course. A few members of the Casa Tepeyac staff also participated in the race. Veronica Smith, Manager of the Family Strengthening Program, said “The day was a great success and everyone involved had a lot of fun.”

There are many ways you can support teens in foster care. Teens need dedicated and reliable influences. We have needs for Foster Parents, clinical therapists and social workers, and corporate partnerships. SOS Illinois can use your unique skills to support our youth.

There are many reasons why children enter foster care. Addressing these circumstances is essential in reducing the number of children in care and the lengths of stay.
