The Related Lendlease Annual Charity Golf Classic Continues Its Success Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic

Thursday, September 17th  was a fantastic day dedicated to supporting children’s charities in the Chicagoland area. This year the Annual Charity Golf Classic hosted by nationally prominent real estate developer and industry leader, Related Midwest, and leading international property and infrastructure group, Lendlease could not be stopped even by COVID-19.

Even though COVID-19 made this event look much different and smaller than usual, the enthusiasm and energy were still there in volumes. This year’s Annual Charity Golf Classic showed that even in unprecedented times of uncertainty, there can still be a lot of good happening, which really embodied the spirit of this event and kicked it off.

2020 Annual Charity Golf Classic

This year, the Golf Classic raised over $300,000 to financially impact three charities in the Chicagoland area: SOS Children’s Villages Illinois, Saturday Place, and the Bruce C. Abram’s Foundation. As a 501(c)3 child welfare agency, SOS Illinois benefits greatly from the backing of the generous and loyal sponsors at the Golf Classic, which included Snadiero, AT&T Business, Amberleaf Cabinetry, and more.

During this year’s Golf Classic, golfers were in groups of four teeing off with tee-times instead of a shotgun start, and all were following COIVD-19 guidelines by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing rules of staying six feet apart from one another. The day was a great success and truly an enjoyable time for everyone involved. Even with limited social gatherings, there was excitement and good fortune as money was being raised during the friendly competition.

Committed to Supporting Youth in Need

Since its inception in 2004, the Golf Classic has donated nearly $2.9 million to various children’s charities. Corporate initiatives such as these are critical for SOS Illinois, as we continue uniting brothers and sisters in foster care under the care of full-time, professional Foster Parents in one of our Village communities. We offer sincere gratitude to Related Midwest, Lendlease, and all participating business supporters. With your help, we are able to provide at-risk children safe spaces to grow, heal, and achieve their permanency goals.

Children in foster care are more likely to be exposed to traumatic events, such as poverty, homelessness, safety issues, or others that can lead to toxic stress. See how SOS Illinois is addressing mental health issues for children in foster care. https://buff.ly/2O0mIKV
